Lowek - Ace of Echoes
As a child, Lowek became stranded in the far reaches of the Weave following the crash that claimed the lives of their parents. Finding sanctuary with the Skern, the Weave’s near-mythical architects, Lowek changed over time to reflect their alien biology. Lowek is now a living echo of both their lost humanity and the dying Skern race. To travellers, they are little more than a story. To the Skern, they are a saviour - albeit a reluctant one.

Appearance
While Lowek appears mostly human, their ‘skin’ is in fact a carapace hiding a mass of Weave, which erupts out of their back and head in wild, plate-like growths. Their skin is smooth and hard - like marble - and their eyes are pure black.
The Skern
The Weave is the heart of the Neverthere. It binds the realms together and exerts pressure against the relentless advances of the Outer Dark. The Skern are its architects.
These large, insectoid creatures have a symbiotic relationship with the Weave, incorporating it into their very bodies. The Skern are telepathic and live in hive-like communities in the depths of the Weave. At least two Skern accompany Lowek at all times as ‘bodyguards’.
The Skern are widely considered to be extinct - but while some remain, death is fast approaching.
